One of the most famous Thermal temple in Italy at 15 Km from the farmhouse is Chianciano Terme, its water flows from four different sources with different properties, articulated in specific itineraries according to individual necessity. Traditional treatments such us bath, mud and mineral water treatments. Other thermal towns are Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo Terme, San Casciano Terme, Rapolano Terme.

Bagno Vignoni is one of the most charming, it is set at 306 m., 52° hot water, they were well known by Caterina da Siena and Lorenzo il Magnifico. /p>

The privileged position of the farmhouse offers many interesting possibilities to discover the area. In this protected area it is possible to meet pheasants, wild rabbits, deer and many other wild animals.

Some itineraries are ideal for trekking or bikes, others are perfect by car along country roads to reach old churches or medieval towns, such us the way from Montepulciano to Monticchiello.

Beautiful town rich of history and art of the 16 century ,a beautiful place to discover, well know as the "pearl" of Renaissance.


The old town stands on the top of a hill which overlooks the splendid Val d'Orcia. Enea Silvio Piccolomini was born here in 1405 and when he became pope Pius II in 1458 he decided to transform his modest village into the perfect town, an admirable example of the humanistic period.


The origin of the village are very obscure :the first official document about Monticchiello laughter to 973. The Marquis Lamberto Aldobrandeschi sold it to Badia Amiatina, for a large sum. Later Monticchiello was part of the Roman church and was administrated by the Teutonic knights (until 1230), a religious order very brave, perfect in a border area.


The village (575m.) is a small medieval village that welcomes you for a journey back trough the ages when Siena and Florence were enemies. The village was born as fortress under the Republic of Siena, against the "Florentine" Montepulciano. The first tools found in the area "Il Tondo" are from the Neanderthal period.


In one of the most beautiful areas of the province of Siena is set the medieval village of Trequanda.The village developed around a castle in 1200, today remains the old tower. Trequanda is located on the top of a hill among forests, vineyard and olive trees.


It was one of the 12 towns of the Etruscan. In is mighty walls today you can see medieval elements. There are many medieval buildings and few renaissance style buildings. It's a charming town on the top of a mountain.

Chianciano Terme

It is one of the most famous thermal towns of Italy; In the past it was a Roman-Etruscan trade centre very important for its water. Important historical evidence is the discovery of a monumental complex spa being excavated in the area "Mezzomiglio".


It is set on the top of a hill(564m.) among Val d’Orcia, Val d’Arbia an Val dell’Ombrone. In the tour of the townyou can see, in addition to the beautiful landscapes, many medieval buildings, from town hall, ancient seat of the Priors, stone building decorated with coats of arms, arcades and arches of Gothic style (xi-xv centuries).


It is situated on the slope of the mountain of the same name, retains the medieval structure with narrow streets that lead to the central tower. Visit the prehistoric settlement of Belvedere, 40.000 years old. The Civic museums of mount Cetona prehistory contains finds from Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.


Already important city since Etruscan times, it experienced a heyday at the time of King Porsenna. At the National Etruscan Museum you can see important archaeological finds in the main square in front of the museum is the Cathedral of the twelfth century, transformed in 1585. Next to the Cathedral is a cathedral museum (1930) with major exhibits of religious art.

San Casciano Bagni

Small town south of Siena, on the border between Umbria and Lazio, was already famous in the Middle Ages and preserves the structure. To visit the old city with its great square tower of Palazzo Bologna, with narrow streets and squares, outside the town near the spa is an old Church of 9 century.

San Quirico d'Orcia

Of Etruscan origin, was an important town because it was close to Via Francigena. Federico Barbarossa, met the ambassador of Pope Adrian IV here in 1154 and this event is recalled in the "Festa del Barbarossa", the third Sunday of June. In 1167 it was seat of the imperial vicariate. In 1559 it was annexed in Florence under the rule of Lorenzo de' Medici.

Bagno Vignoni

Bagno Vignoni was and is famous for its hot springs but also for its unique architecture. In place of the village square there is a large pool of thermal water at 52 °. The tank is enclosed by walls five feet high around there are some buildings built by Bernardo Rossellino to celebrate Pius II. In the porch there is a small shrine next to the bathtub visited from Santa Caterina da Siena.
